According to Audrey Mae’s artistically designed cemetery map and Audrey Mae’s gravestone numbering system in her Spencer Historical Family Cemetery, William McGowen Spencer’s gravestone is Gravestone Number Fifty. Using her Smith-Corona typewriter in the 1980s, Audrey Mae typed the following mini-biography of William McGowen Spencer, a  seventh- generation Spencer in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

More research is needed as web author lives 3000 miles from the Spencer family cemetery and it appears that the gravestone photo may not be the correct gravestone for William McGowen Spencer.

According to Audrey Mae’s mini-biography, Elizabeth Alice Potter (gravestone No. 51) married William McGowen. Web site author has no other information.

More research is needed to determine which Spencer line William belongs.
