no-1-huldahAccording to Audrey Mae’s artistic map diagram, Huldah’s gravestone is Gravestone Number One in the Spencer Family Cemetery.  Huldah was married to John Spencer (Gravestone Number Two), the son of William and Mary (née Manchester) Spencer.  Huldah (née Johnson) Spencer was Audrey Mae’s, Edith Anna’s, and John Edward’s great, great, great (3 times) grandmother.

No. 31 Jamima Maxim

According to Audrey Mae’s artistic cemetery map diagram and Audrey Mae’s gravestone numbering system, Jamima Maxim’s gravestone is Gravestone Number Thirty-One. Using her Smith-Corona typewriter in the 1980s, Audrey Mae typed the following mini-biography of Jamim Maxim:ams-31-jamima-maxim

An outside source of the spelling of Jamima is Jamina.  Descendants are unsure of the spelling of her first name and also whether Maxim is Jamima’s middle name or last name.

Jamima is buried in the Spencer family cemetery because she is married to John Anthony Spencer (gravestone No. 32) Audrey Mae typed that John Anthony’s parents are Captain John (gravestone number 4) and Phebe (née Vaughn)(gravestone number 3) Spencer.  Captain John is the first child of Huldah (née Johnson) (gravestone number 1) and Patriot John (gravestone number 2) Spencer. No. 42 Lottie Lee (“Aunt Lottie”)

According to Audrey’s Mae’s artistically created cemetery map design and her gravestone numbering system in her Spencer Family Historical Cemetery, Lottie Lee’s gravestone is Gravestone Number Forty-Two. Her spouse, Richard Augustus’s name is on the same gravestone. Using her Smith-Corona typewriter in the 1980s, Audrey Mae typed the following mini-biography of Lottie: ams-42-richard-augustus

Bruce MacGunnigle – 40

Lottie’s burial is in the Spencer Family Cemetery because she was married to Richard Augustus Spencer. With her marriage to Richard, the name Gadsby came into the Spencer line.

Richard Augustus (“Uncle Rich”) is the older brother of William J.B. Spencer and Alfred Ernest Spencer (gravestone No. 40). Richard Augustus was the eldest child of Anna Maria (Mar-eye-ah) and John Johnson Spencer (Gravestone No. 8).  Anna Maria was the child of Richard Anthony Spencer (Gravestone No. 7).  Richard Anthony’s father was Richard Anthony (“Deacon”) Spencer.  Father and son had the same name. Richard Anthony (“Deacon”) was the sixth child of John (Gravestone No. 2) and Huldah (née Johnson) Spencer (Gravestone No. 1).

Uncle Rich and Lottie Lees (neé Gadsby) Spencer and their three daughters lived in the Spencer house at Spencer’s Corner (Division, Shippeetown and Crompton Roads in East Greenwich, R.I.). Two of Richard and Lottie’s three daughters are buried in the Spencer Family Cemetery.  They are Annie Eleanor (gravestone No. 43) and Amy Lees (gravestone No. 43). Continue reading

No. 49 George Rathbun

no-49-gorege-rathbunAccording to Audrey Mae’s artistically designed cemetery map and Audrey Mae’s gravestone numbering system in her Spencer Historical Family Cemetery, George Rathbun’s gravestone is Gravestone Number Forty-Nine and his spouse Roby Alice (née Spencer) Rathbun’s gravestone is Gravestone Number Forty-eight. Using her Smith-Corona typewriter in the 1980s, Audrey Mae typed the following mini-biography of George Rathbun, who was a Veteran.  To honor his military service, Audrey Mae places a USA flag by his gravestone Number Forty-Nine on her artistically designed Spencer family cemetery map.

According to Audrey Mae’s artistically designed cemetery map and Audrey Mae’s gravestone numbering system in her Spencer Historical Family Cemetery, Elizabeth Alice Potter’s gravestone is Gravestone Number Fifty-One. Using her Smith-Corona typewriter in the 1980s, Audrey Mae typed the following mini-biography of Elizabeth Alice Potter.

(2012 Update:  Audrey Mae’s granddaughter reported that Elizabeth’s gravestone inscription has 8-26-1838 as date if birth and 9-8-1901 as date of death. More research needed.)
