ams-11-richard-anthony_0

Richard Anthony is named after Audrey Mae’s great grandfather, Richard Anthony who died at age 27. Therefore, this Richard Anthony would have special significance to Audrey Mae and she would write this in his mini-biography above.

Bruce MacGunnigle – 5

This Richard Anthony’s father is Joseph Jason Spencer, the fifth child of Richard Anthony (“Deacon”) and Roby (née Tarbox) Spencer. When Joseph Jason’s older brother, Richard Anthony (Deacon and Roby’s first son) died at age twenty-seven, Joseph Jason named his next born son after his older brother. The infant Richard Anthony Spencer was born July 18th and his uncle Richard Anthony Spencer had just died May 27th.

Since this Richard Anthony was named after Audrey Mae’s, John Edward’s and Edith Anna’s great-grandfather, Richard Anthony Spencer (Gravestone No. 7), this gravestone (No. 11) would have special significance for these three last children on the Spencer Homestead, as they referred to the land as last as the 21th Century. Phebe is the daughter of Captain John (No. 4) and Phebe (née Vaughn) (No. 3) Spencer.  Phebe was obviously named after her mother Phebe (née Vaughn) Spencer. The children (Phebe, Eliza, Harriet, Almira, Matilda, Obediah and Susan) in this Spencer line do not have Spencer historical names. Were these Vaughn names?

Phebe A. Sweet’s Gravestone No. 17 marking show her married name as Phebe A. Sweet.  According to Audrey Mae’s mini-biography, Phebe and her sister Harriet married the Sweet brothers. Therefore, Phebe married the brother of her sister Harriet’s husband Rowland A. Sweet.

According to Audrey Mae’s artistic map diagram, Gravestones 16-22 are the children of Phebe (née Vaughn) and Captain John Spencer.  Captain John (gravestone No.4) is the first son of Revolutionary War Patriot John (gravestone No. 2) and Huldah (neé Johnson) Spencer.  Audrey Mae typed the following mini-biographies of Captain John and Phebe (née Vaughn) Spencer’s children, Eliza, Phebe, Harriet, Almira, Matilda, Obediah and Susan:
